Color y Piña (Colour and Pineapple)

The painting is inspired by the ‘Pineapple Flower Dance’ which is part of the festivities during the ‘Guelaguetza’ festival – a big traditional celebration in Oaxaca.

The painting depicts several proud and radiant ‘Cuenca’ women from the city of Tuxtepec - the place where the artist was born. The Cuenca del Papaloapan is in the north of the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The principal city is San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec, the second largest in Oaxaca state.
